Programme teaching goals
Doctoral study deepens students' knowledge of theoretical fields of GI science and technology, cartography and geovizualization. The study extends skills in topical areas of geoapplication (GIS, DPZ, GNSS, informatics, database systems, geocomputering, spatial statistics, 3D modeling and simulation, computer cartography, cognitive and virtual geovizualisation and others). According to the topic of the dissertation thesis, students are directed by a supervisor and top experts individually to an intensive study of research topics, to the separate processing of assigned tasks on the theoretical and methodological levels, critical reviewing and utilization of literature, the verification of partial and final results and the design of their implementation in research, development and practice. Students are encouraged to participate actively in professional debates, to present a comprehension of their knowledge and to publish results in scientific and professional periodicals, especially in prestigious foreign journals.
Graduates‘ profile
Graduates are directed to scientific research and independent development and experimental activities, and they are trained for active work in research teams. The graduates use the skills of engaging in the supervisor'research, in projects and scientific, professional and teaching publications. The graduates can participate in highly professional tasks thanks to acquired adaptability to solve new problems in the given field. It enables him/her to gain access to development companies, research teams in various sectors of the society, economy and academia.
