Antonín Kalous, M.A., Ph.D. Annotation The Erasmus Mundus Master Programme "Euroculture: Society, Politics and Culture in a Global Context" is an interdisciplinary, international master offered by a consortium of eight European universities and four non-European universities. It is recognised by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Master of Excellence. The Euroculture programme is a two-year programme of four semesters (120 ECTS). Every Euroculture student studies at least at two European partner universities. In the third semester Euroculture students choose either a professional track (work placement) or a research track at any of the 8 European partner universities. European students can also apply for a research track at one of our non-European partner universities. Professional graduate profiles The aim of the studies is to prepare high level personnel for the fields of international relations in embassies, ministries and other international settings as well as experts at European and international organisations, universities or firms, who will be able to work in projects at local, national and European level. Graduates will be able to develop research and analysis of immediate recent past, present and possible future trends in the field of EU relations and specific world areas, particularly in the fields of education, professional research and culture: research institutes, technological parks, museums, etc. Requirements for admission More information see at: http://old.ff.upol.cz/en/groups/studying/degree-programmes/programmes-taught-in-a-foreign-language/ The payment for foreign Master's degree programme is 2800 EUR per academic year. http://www.euroculture.upol.cz Programme teaching goals It aims to prepare graduates for a wide range of professions in which understanding of European issues is of relevance (universities, media, diplomacy, European and government institutions, NGOs). Graduates' profile Euroculture graduates have built careers jobs in the fields of cultural management, government, research, journalism, policy-making, international business, NGOs, and European institutions. Others have found careers in academia, taking up PhD research in many fields in the humanities and social sciences. Euroculture prepares its graduates ? from all over the world ? with a thorough grounding in the historical, religious, linguistic and cultural aspects that play an essential, but often neglected, role in the Europe of today. Our programme recognises that the power of culture, values and identities in modern societies calls for sensitive and well-informed professionals to work as diplomats, managers, administrators, policy makers, journalists and cultural professionals. In order to satisfy this need, the programme offers a unique and high-level international learning experience. As a Euroculture student, you will: - study issues that are related to European integration and European institutions from multiple perspectives, focusing on the citizen and culture rather than on abstract models and structures. - learn about approaches and methods from different disciplines including social and cultural studies and international relations. - study at at least two different universities in Europe and have the chance to do an internship or to attend a third university, including (for a selected group of European students) outside of Europe. - study and socialise with people from countries all over the world and from a variety of cultural backgrounds. - take part in an international summer school?Euroculture?s Intensive Programme?with around 100 participants from all partner universities. - enhance your employability by developing your professional and academic skills and intercultural competences. Employability prospect Euroculture prepares graduates for professions and research careers where knowledge of contemporary Europe and the European Union institutions are of relevance. Due to the multi- and interdisciplinary nature of the Euroculture programme, its graduates find work in a broad range of sectors where expert knowledge of present Europe and European integration processes is required. A number of our graduates have also undertaken further studies on doctoral level. The focus of the programme is on cultural and social developments, the political process of European integration, values, citizenship and cultural identity within Europe and its correlations with the wider world. Euroculture teaches students the methods and skills required to identify the European dimensions of social problems, to critically assess and interpret information about European institutions and organisations, and to understand the cultural aspects and factors that play a key role in the process of European identity formation and integration.
