Silesian University in Opava has three faculties – the Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Opava, the School of Business Administration in Karviná, the Faculty of Public Policies in Opava and two university institutes - the Institute of Mathematics in Opava and the Institute of Physics in Opava. The total number of students is 5280 in approximately 132 study programmes (Bachelor´s, Master´s and Doctoral). The University is a member of the EUA and other international institutions. The university is a proud member of STARS EU Alliance.

| International cooperation: | The University is involved in several international students and teachers Exchange programmes, particularly within the Framework of Erasmus+, CEEPUS, V4, AIA, DAAD etc. It cooperates with more than 100 partners all around the world. Students can spend a part of their studies at one of our partner universities in Europe, Japan or USA. The university is a member of STARS EU Alliance of European Universities - an alliance between nine complementary universities: Hanze University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands), University of La Laguna (Spain), Polytechnic Institute of Braganca (Portugal), Bremen University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University West (Sweden), Cracow University of Technology (Poland), University of Franche-Comté (France), Aleksander Moisiu University of Durres (Albania). The Alliance has been awarded a four-year grant in the Erasmus+ "European Universities" call and has obtained the status of European University. |
